Superheroes, fantastical creatures, and mythical beings, what do they all have in common? They either have supernatural powers or are not human. What are YOU? Human not Superhero. Hopefully a Productivity Ninja but not a Superhero. So why in this society, do we go into shock-horror when mistakes occur? This is because we live in a world where our best is no longer enough, it expects perfection, but that is one thing us mere mortals cannot provide. We are not perfect, and that is okay.
‘Failure is the key to success; each mistake teaches us something.’
– Morihei Ueshiba
Learning
Do not look upon each mistake you make as the closing doors for future possibilities. If you reflect on your mistakes carefully, you can learn from them in order to avoid making the same ones again and repeating yourself. They are necessary to help build up experience, knowledge, and wisdom. It is crucial to make mistakes if one expects to progress in this world – because learning and evolving will enable us to be clearer in pointing out mistakes before it can become a serious problem/critical situation.
Brick Walls
Ultimately, the mistakes you make reveal your true character and how badly you want something. Making the mistake itself does not define you, but how you respond to it, does. Will you quit, or will you keep going? Let’s look upon these mistakes as brick walls:
‘The brick walls are there for a reason. The brick walls are not there to keep us out. The brick walls are there to give us a chance to show how badly we want something. Because the brick walls are there to stop the people who don’t want it badly enough. They’re there to stop the other people.’ – Randy Pausch
Use your mistakes as a way to showcase how dedicated you are towards conquering them. Prove to people – but most importantly, to yourself – that you are strong enough to go on. In addition, your mistakes will reveal to you whether you actually want to continue to pursue what you have originally planned or not. It is a great way to keep your precious time to yourself and dedicate it towards other pursuits, if this should be the case.
Make it Better
Making mistakes provides us with the opportunity to work on correcting them and make it better than what we have previously planned. Do not abandon them simply because you made a mistake. Use this time to your advantage as a way to develop it! Think of your mistakes, not as failures, but as added time to give you the opportunity to improve on areas that you perhaps did not even notice needed to be worked on, as well as the mistakes themselves. It provides us with the time to address the issues and eradicate them, so that they will not occur again.
Keep making mistakes, as long as you grow and learn from them, it will be okay.
