About me
I started my career as an accountant in the UK, and my Excel skills were mediocre back then, I’d heard of a VLOOKUP but didn’t know what it was. In 2013 I left my first job and found Accountants for International Development, an organisation that pairs accountants with non-profits in the developing world, like Doctors Without Borders, but instead of saving lives, we save balance sheets. They placed me on a two-month role with a non-profit in Cambodia working to maintain traditional performing arts after the Khmer Rouge tried to destroy them. Part of my role was assisting with Excel, so I started teaching informally, reading Excel books to keep up with participants’ questions. By late 2013, still in Cambodia, I realised how much untapped potential there was in Excel that office workers were underusing, so I started teaching it properly, and offering consulting services building spreadsheets for organisations.
In 2019 I launched my YouTube channel about Excel and other tech, now grown to over 20,000 subscribers, and started speaking at conferences and writing blog articles. I was recognised as a Microsoft Excel MVP in February 2020. When COVID hit, I released a run of videos about remote working technology, including one on OneDrive vs SharePoint that went viral, and started running webinars for thousands of people at a time. I stay right up to date with the latest across Excel and other tech, often ahead of Microsoft’s own updates, and I contribute to their monthly “What’s New in Excel” blog.
In 2022 I started stand-up comedy, and soon combined it with my love of Excel, performing as the Excel Comedian in my show Excel Comedy & Mathem-antics across various countries.
I’ve trained over 3,000 people in Excel face-to-face, tens of thousands more through webinars, and millions via my YouTube channel. I’ve also performed 10+ stand-up comedy shows about spreadsheets in each of Australia, Southeast Asia, and the UK.
What I help with
AI and Copilot within Excel is my main course with Think Productive, alongside a range of other Excel courses. I also enjoy running Power BI courses and PowerPoint with presentation skills.

- Chartered Accountant (FCA), Institute of Chartered Accountants in England and Wales
- Masters degree in Mathematics, Manchester University
