We share a lot of Productivity Ninja tips with you every week on our blog. There are many different Productivity tips out there and sometimes they can be a bit contradicting and sometimes even confusing. Today we are on a mission to uncover 7 Productivity Myths…
- “I can get more stuff done if I multi-task.”
Ever heard of spreading yourself too thin? That’s exactly what multi-tasking is – and the more tasks you try and complete simultaneously, the less well each of them will be done. Instead, mono-task: see each task through to completion before beginning the next, offering each one your full and undivided attention.
- “I need to power through a slump to get out of it.”
Slumps are a natural part of work. There are always going to be times when you feel more or less able to perform at your best. If you can feel your motivation fading, or you start to become tired and distracted, sometimes the best thing to do is just take a break and come back to it.
- “This one tip will make anyone more productive!”
Unfortunately, productivity isn’t a one-size-fits-all game. What works for you might not necessarily be what works for your boss, your partner, or a colleague. Don’t be afraid to find what works for you, even if it means going against the norm.
- “I need to work longer hours to get more done.”
Instead of trying to find more hours in the day to get work done, try and make better use of the hours you already have. This might mean mono-tasking, or getting your most difficult task out of the way at the start of the day. Again, find what works for you!
- “The internet makes me less productive!”
For some people this might seem to be the case, but it doesn’t have to be! Believe it or not, the internet can actually be your friend when it comes to productivity – you just have to get a little weapon-savvy, and learn to use it productively.
- “Busy = productive.”
Nope. Productive = productive.
- “I’m beyond help!”
Nobody is! We maintain that anybody can make adjustments to their work and organisation habits in order to boost their productivity. And yes, that includes you.
